Luxembourg

Luxembourg City sits at a strategic crossroads in the European digital landscape, within 300 km of the continent's major metropolitan markets, and serves as a key convergence point for data flows across Western Europe. The city hosts a high density of colocation infrastructure, with facilities certified up to Tier IV and operators offering solutions ranging from individual racks to dedicated private suites and cage configurations. The LU-CIX internet exchange point, with over 90 members and a traffic peak reaching 475 Gbps, forms the backbone of local connectivity. Distributed across multiple sites throughout the country and interconnected with major European nodes including Frankfurt, Amsterdam, and London, it provides a robust and well-peered environment. The colocation market further benefits from a strong presence of international cloud providers and a diverse ecosystem of carriers and ISPs ensuring effective redundancy. Luxembourg's regulatory environment is governed by European GDPR and the Law of 25 July 2015 on electronic communications. The Grand Duchy also has specific legislation covering data hosting and cloud computing, including the Law of 17 July 2020 on the certification of cloud service providers.

Climate

Luxembourg City benefits from a temperate oceanic-continental climate. Summer temperatures typically range between 20°C and 26°C, with exceptional heat events occasionally exceeding 30°C. Winter averages fall between 0°C and 5°C. These conditions support free cooling strategies for a significant portion of the year, enabling competitive PUE ratios in well-designed facilities. Relative humidity is elevated in winter (around 90%) and moderate in summer (80%), requiring careful humidity management within data hall environments.

Transport

Luxembourg-Findel International Airport (LUX) is located approximately 6 km from the city centre, accessible via the A1 motorway and the T1 tram line since March 2025. Luxembourg City has direct motorway connections via the A1 (towards Trier, Germany), A3 (towards Metz, France), A6 (towards Arlon, Belgium), and A4/A7 towards the south. Luxembourg Central Station provides TGV services to Paris (approximately 2h10) and ICE connections to major German cities, with Frankfurt reachable by rail in under 3 hours.
