Auvernix
Specializing in local interconnection for telecommunications operators, AuvernIX has been managing the leading Internet exchange point (IXP) in Auvergne and the Massif Central since 2012, operating as a nonprofit association.
Its backbone relies on several points of presence in Clermont-Ferrand, including the Gravanches 3 POP, the La Citadelle data center, and the O2switch site, and is directly interconnected with FranceIX Lyon and Equinix Paris. With a combined capacity of over 114 Gbps shared among a dozen members, AuvernIX offers reduced latency to the Lyon region—around 3 milliseconds, compared to 20 milliseconds via transit through Paris.
The services provided by AuvernIX focus on local peering and the interconnection of telecom operators, hosting providers, and ISPs, without selling direct transit on its main VLAN. The organization adheres to the MANRS initiative for secure routing and is part of the national FRNIX community.
This infrastructure enables connected members to reduce their bandwidth costs and improve the resilience of their networks both nationally and internationally.
