Hopus

The Hopus interconnection network connects French and international telecommunications operators via a single point of connection, open to autonomous systems with a 24-hour operations center. Based in Marseille, the company employs an IP connectivity model based on market-driven pricing: traffic senders and receiving operators agree on fair terms, with no minimum volume requirements. Access to the Hopus network ranges from a few dozen kilobits per second to several dozen gigabits per second, with no arbitrary restrictions for either small or large operators. The services offered cover the exchange of IP traffic between network operators, with a direct BGP session required for each member connected to the Hopus router. Several access and content providers have already adopted this model to ensure reliable connections to a large portion of French internet users from a single point of presence. This approach aims to provide a quality of service comparable to that of private peering, while remaining accessible to operators of all sizes, based on a market model open to all operators.
