Lyonix

Spanning eight separate sites in the Lyon metropolitan area, from Villeurbanne in the north to Saint-Exupéry Airport, LyonIX is the Internet Exchange Point (IXP) for the Rhône-Alpes region, operated by the Rezopole association since 2001. This multi-site architecture, hosted by SFR, DCforData, Jaguar Network, HosTELyon, and Maxnod, among others, allows connected networks to exchange traffic locally without routing through major hubs in the Paris region or internationally, thereby reducing latency and bandwidth costs. LyonIX serves a diverse ecosystem of telecom operators, Internet service providers, hosting providers, data centers, and major corporate clients in the region. As a Network Access Point (NAP), LyonIX also serves as a marketplace for the purchase and sale of Internet transit and IP services among members interconnected on the same infrastructure. Organizations with an Autonomous System Number (ASN) can interconnect there to engage in public peering, share their links, and diversify their connectivity sources. As a member of RIPE, Euro-IX, ADIRA, and CRiP, LyonIX contributes to the development of ultra-high-speed broadband and the decentralization of digital infrastructure in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.
