Nine
nine is a Europe-wide Internet Exchange Point (IXP) and Layer 2 Ethernet fabric, owned and operated by a French company working under EU regulations. Its network runs on an n x 400G backbone covering England, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Switzerland, with PoPs in Amsterdam, London, Frankfurt, Paris, Lille, Lyon, Marseille, Zurich, Milan, Bordeaux and Montpellier. The principle is simple: exchange traffic with every peer, anywhere, at no extra transport cost.
The platform is built on SR-MPLS technology and supports advanced uses: public or private peering on a single port, Ethernet circuits (up to 128 per port, carrying VLAN, VXLAN, QinQ or MPLS), and soon direct access to the major cloud providers. On the integrity side, nine implements blackholing, MAC filtering, RPKI, IRR route filtering and IP anti-spoofing, with MTU up to 10,000 and routing continuously optimised for the lowest available latency.
