Connected to the pan-European GÉANT network via Paris and Geneva, RENATER ensures the territorial continuity of French research and higher education on the international stage, including for France’s overseas departments and territories. This Public Interest Group deploys and operates a national network of more than 12,000 kilometers of dark fiber, using DWDM technology, which connects more than 70 network nodes and serves approximately 1,400 education and research sites throughout France. General Internet access is supplemented by direct interconnections and a presence at several Internet exchange points, including SFINX, France-IX, and Equinix. RENATER offers a core suite of connectivity services, including ultra-high-speed data transport, Layer 2 and Layer 3 VPNs, MPLS solutions, and IP transit services deployed in Paris and Marseille. Its portfolio also extends to federated identity, email, videoconferencing, security, and DDoS mitigation systems, ensuring high availability for the universities, research organizations, and government agencies that rely on its infrastructure.
