Wilhelm.tel
Deployed using a ring topology that is particularly resilient to outages, wilhelm.tel’s proprietary fiber-optic network covers virtually all of Norderstedt, where 95% of the approximately 33,000 households are connected, as well as a large part of Hamburg through a partnership with willy.tel and the SAGA GWG housing cooperative since 2008.
The operator, a subsidiary of Stadtwerke Norderstedt, is also expanding its coverage to several municipalities in Schleswig-Holstein, such as Pinneberg, Quickborn, Ahrensburg, and Itzehoe, working with regional partners like pinnau.com and tel.quick. Its fiber network spans more than 3,300 kilometers and includes service all the way to the building, based on a fully fiber-optic “last mile” model.
For businesses, wilhelm.tel offers fiber Internet access with guaranteed bandwidth—either symmetric or asymmetric—as well as multi-site interconnection solutions to streamline collaboration between locations. The operator also provides carrier connection points in Hamburg at Artfiles, AtlasEdge, Equinix, and euNetworks, as well as BGP access for Internet service providers. IP telephony and combined Internet-telephony packages round out a portfolio designed for the demanding environments of northern Germany.
